FAQs
Frequently asked questions
How do I book?
Use BOOK AN EPC, send your postcode and contact details, and optionally a preferred visit date. I will come back to confirm a time. This website does not show live diary slots or take card payments.
How long does an EPC assessment take?
This depends on the size, age and complexity of the property. Most domestic assessments take around 45–60 minutes, although larger or more complex properties may take longer.
What do I need to have ready?
Please make sure I can reach the loft hatch, heating controls and each main room. If you have paperwork for insulation, a boiler or other work, have it ready. Some improvements may not be visible during a visit, so invoices, guarantees or building-control paperwork can help the assessment reflect work that has already been done.
When will I receive my certificate?
After the visit I prepare the certificate. Where a lodged EPC is required, it can be placed on the official government register. I will confirm timing when we book. Sending this form does not lodge an EPC or generate a certificate.
Do you cover my area?
I visit homes across Wirral, including Wallasey, Birkenhead, Heswall, West Kirby and surrounding areas. If you are unsure, send the postcode with your booking request and I will check.
What is a domestic EPC?
An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) shows the energy efficiency of a property, giving it a rating from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient). It also includes recommendations for potential energy-efficiency improvements.
What is assessed during the visit?
The visit looks at the parts of the home that affect its energy rating. That can include walls, loft or roof, windows, heating, hot water, controls, lighting and any renewable technologies that are present.
How long is an EPC valid?
A domestic EPC is normally valid for 10 years, unless a newer certificate is produced for the property.
What is EPC Improvement Modelling?
EPC Improvement Modelling allows us to explore how different energy-efficiency improvements could affect your property’s calculated EPC rating.
For example, if your property is currently rated D and you’d like to reach C, I can model potential improvements to help identify which measures could have the greatest impact on the rating.
This can help you make more informed decisions before committing to potentially costly work.
Modelling provides an indication based on the EPC methodology and information available and does not guarantee a future EPC rating.
Can you help me get my property to a specific EPC rating?
If you have a target EPC rating in mind, I can model different improvement scenarios to explore what may be required to reach it. Get in touch and tell me your current rating and what you’re hoping to achieve.
Do I need to lodge a new EPC after improvement modelling?
No. Improvement modelling allows you to explore potential changes without immediately lodging a new EPC. If you later carry out improvements and want an updated official rating, a new EPC assessment can then be completed and lodged.
